When the planet feels so big and your business so small in comparison, making any kind of impact can feel like moving mountains. That’s why it’s important for all businesses to work together. No action is too small. When enough people band together to make a change, those small acts become transformative.
3 ways we’re making an impact
Positive impacts on people and planet
We use charitable donations to change the world in ways that we could not accomplish via Switchfoot’s core activities.
Every year we donate a percentage of our turnover to charitable organisations that are actively working towards a better world. We tie our donations to the UN sustainable development goals (SDG’s). We donate monthly amounts to a number of projects and we will continue to make monthly donations year on year.
An example of a charity we support is B1G1 and so far we have made the following impacts via B1G1 projects:

Our carbon impacts
We are continually working to reduce our carbon impacts, and our office now generates more green solar energy than it uses.
We use Ecologi Zero to measure the 3 scopes of our carbon footprint: direct emissions, indirect emissions and value chain emissions. our scope 3 carbon footprint based on our Xero data. The system connects to our spending data in Xero and allocates an estimate of carbon used. We also use Ecologi to plant trees and carbon offset on our behalf. This is how we are working towards SDG 13 – Climate action.

We help small business owners build and grow sustainable businesses, creating decent employment opportunities in their communities. These businesses innovate and work to create responsible products and services. We encourage longer term thinking and planning so businesses can avoid harmful short term mindsets.
